LAHORE 18-01-2025: A memorial seminar commemorating the seventh death anniversary of renowned poet, journalist, and playwright Manu Bhai was organized by the Sundas Foundation. The event brought together prominent figures, including Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, Minister for Specialized Healthcare Khawaja Salman Rafiq, senior journalist Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari, and literary personalities such as Muzammal Suhrawardy, Baba Najmi, Khawar Naeem Hashmi, and Tahir Naeem, among others.

During the seminar, speakers paid tribute to Manu Bhai’s literary legacy and his unwavering commitment to humanitarian service. They acknowledged his significant contributions to Urdu literature, journalism, and drama, as well as his pivotal role in establishing the Associate Foundation to serve underprivileged communities.

Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan highlighted Manu Bhai’s dedication to social awareness through his writing and activism.

“Manu Bhai was not only a literary giant but also a devoted humanitarian. His contributions to public service continue to inspire us. We are committed to supporting the noble mission he envisioned through the Foundation.”

He also commended Khawaja Salman Rafiq for his efforts in healthcare and underscored the need for government support for the Foundation.

Managing a large number of patients and maintaining expensive medical equipment is no easy feat. The state must provide necessary assistance to sustain this remarkable initiative. I have instructed that a private member’s bill related to the Foundation be formally adopted by the government. Every hospital should have a dedicated counter to facilitate its services.

Minister for Specialized Healthcare Khawaja Salman Rafiq praised the Foundation’s humanitarian work, emphasizing that Manu Bhai’s dream was to build a society where everyone has access to basic healthcare.

It has been a privilege to work alongside the Foundation and Manu Bhai. His vision and determination remain a guiding force for us as we continue to expand healthcare services for the underprivileged.”

Senior journalists Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, Arshad Ansari, Mazhar Barlas, Khawar Naeem Hashmi, Muzammal Suhrawardy, and Baba Najmi shared heartfelt memories of Manu Bhai, reflecting on his impact on literature, journalism, and philanthropy.

At the conclusion of the seminar, Foundation Director Khalid Abbas Dar expressed gratitude to the attendees. A special prayer was offered for Manu Bhai’s soul, and a renewed commitment was made to further expand the Foundation’s services, ensuring healthcare facilities reach the most vulnerable segments of society.
