Lahore: Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat spearheaded a blood donation camp at MAO College, emphasizing the urgent need for blood transfusions among thalassemia patients. The initiative aimed to promote voluntary blood donation and raise awareness about the growing demand for lifesaving transfusions.

During his visit, the Minister praised the Muslim Students Federation for their active participation and commended the young volunteers for their generosity. Leading by example, he personally donated blood to support children receiving care from the Sundas Foundation.

Addressing students and media representatives, Rana Sikandar Hayat underscored the critical need for regular blood donations:

He highlighted the rising prevalence of thalassemia, noting that 5,000 to 7,000 new cases are reported annually. To address this growing challenge, the Minister set an ambitious target of collecting 100,000 blood bags for thalassemia patients. He also announced that blood donation camps will be organized across public and private educational institutions to ensure a steady blood supply.
