Punjab Assembly Welcomes Thalassemia Patients, Pledges Legislative Support

In a heartwarming gesture, Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan extended a special invitation to a delegation of Thalassemia-affected children from Sundas Foundation for a visit to the Punjab Assembly. The delegation included Sundas Foundation's Patron Suhail Warraich, President Mohammad Yasin Khan, CEO Abdul Sattar, Sr. Manager RM & CP Faysal Hameed and Marketing Manager Imran Maher along with other representatives
During the visit, the children explored various sections of the Assembly, including the newly established House. Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan personally met the children, inquired about their health, and assured them of his commitment to strengthening legislation for Thalassemia prevention and treatment. He also reaffirmed his support for financial assistance to the foundation’s ongoing efforts.
As the Assembly session commenced, both opposition and government members stood in solidarity to welcome the delegation, paying tribute to the courageous children and the dedicated team of Sundas Foundation.
On this occasion, Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir joined the Speaker and provided a detailed briefing on Thalassemia prevention initiatives. He announced plans to establish Thalassemia Centers in every district, with input from Sundas Foundation’s experts to ensure effective patient care.
Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan emphasized the importance of mandatory Thalassemia screening before marriage, stressing that preventive measures are crucial to eradicating this life-threatening disease. He further assured that legislation would soon be introduced to grant special status to children affected by Thalassemia, ensuring their rights and well-being.
Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir praised Sundas Foundation’s unwavering commitment to the cause, calling it a beacon of hope for Thalassemia patients. He pledged full cooperation in the collective fight against the disease, ensuring that the government and the foundation work hand in hand to combat Thalassemia.
The visit left a profound impact on the children, further highlighting the importance of public awareness and government support in eradicating Thalassemia from Pakistan.
