Sundas Foundation organized a special seminar at the Children’s Library Complex Lahore to commemorate World Blood Donor Day and raise awareness about voluntary blood donation and the challenges faced by thalassemia and hemophilia patients. Addressing the event, Chinese Consul General Sun Yan described blood donation as a universal act of humanity and compassion and reaffirmed China’s commitment to investing in Pakistan’s healthcare sector. The seminar featured speeches by renowned journalist Suhail Warraich, Founder and President of Sundas Foundation Muhammad Yaseen Khan (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), Director Sundas Foundation Khalid Abbas Dar, and Punjab Education Foundation’s Director Special Initiatives Nusrat Baqi, all emphasizing the importance of voluntary blood donation and community service.
Lahore: Sundas Foundation organized a special seminar at the Children’s Library Complex, Lahore, to mark World Blood Donor Day and highlight the importance of voluntary blood donation as well as the challenges faced by patients suffering from thalassemia and hemophilia. The event was attended by educationists, senior journalists, social leaders, and representatives from various walks of life. The chief guest of the seminar was Mr. Sun Yan, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lahore. Other speakers included renowned journalist and Patron of Sundas Foundation Suhail Warraich, Founder and President of Sundas Foundation Mr. Muhammad Yaseen Khan (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), Director Sundas Foundation Khalid Abbas Dar, and Director Special Initiatives, Punjab Education Foundation, Ms. Nusrat Baqi. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sun Yan said that donating blood is a noble act recognized and valued by all religions. He remarked that while people become doctors, engineers, and professionals in various fields, those who become blood donors help save human lives and serve humanity in its truest sense. Highlighting the strong ties between Pakistan and China, he stated that the friendship between the two countries is not merely strategic but has become an integral part of their cultures. “This is not only a friendship between two nations; it is a friendship rooted in humanity,” he said. He further reaffirmed China’s commitment to continuing its investment and cooperation in Pakistan’s healthcare sector to improve medical services and public well-being. Speaking on the occasion, Suhail Warraich paid tribute to voluntary blood donors and emphasized the importance of promoting compassion, social responsibility, and humanitarian values in society. He praised Sundas Foundation for its invaluable services to patients suffering from blood disorders. Founder and President of Sundas Foundation, Mr. Muhammad Yaseen Khan (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), said that thousands of thalassemia and hemophilia patients depend on regular blood transfusions for survival. He urged individuals and institutions to actively support voluntary blood donation campaigns and contribute towards saving precious lives. He also thanked the distinguished guests, participants, and blood donors for their support and commitment to the cause. Director Sundas Foundation Khalid Abbas Dar and Ms. Nusrat Baqi, Director Special Initiatives at Punjab Education Foundation, also addressed the seminar and stressed the need to encourage youth participation in community service and voluntary blood donation initiatives. At the conclusion of the event, Mr. Muhammad Yaseen Khan presented a commemorative shield to the Chinese Consul General, Mr. Sun Yan, in recognition of his participation and support.
